HackATL 2018 is the 6th annual business hack-a-thon powered by Emory Entrepreneurship and Venture Management. HackATL is a 48 hour event hosted at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. Each year students from across the country come together to form teams and develop their startup pitches. This year HackATL has 400 confirmed participants from 20 schools across the nation, with 44% of participants from non-Emory schools.

Teams can opt to be in one of four categories: Arts & Entertainment, Social Innovation, Health and Wellness, and Emerging Tech. The 3 day event is organized such that students can systematically develop their pitch for the last day. Each day consists of different activities relating to the startup creation process ranging from day one as “Dream it”, day two as “Build it” and day three as “Pitch it”.

We are excited to have sponsors who help make the event possible including Lyft, Kabbage, Total Server Solutions, Blockchain Union, along with with personnel from General Assembly, SunTrust, Facebook and many more. Our wonderful sponsors and personnel have set up various activities and workshops intended to educate and help participants throughout the weekend. Some of the workshops topics include ideation, blockchain, UX design, design thinking, and marketing. Additionally, there will be services available such as 3D printing, tech support, mentorship, and resume reviews.

The 3-day business focused hack-a-thon is 100% organized by students. Everything from marketing, design of name tags, contracts created for sponsors, and food is student driven. That’s what makes HackATL the most authentic student hack-a-thon in the country: built by students for students.

Overall, teams that place in the top of their categories and the competition as a whole are eligible for some impressive prizes. The students at Emory Entrepreneurship and Venture Management would like to invite all members of the Atlanta community and beyond to be a part of this entrepreneurial celebration. The Opening Kick-off, workshops, and final round pitches are open to the public — simply RSVP at hackatl.org/rsvp.
