Insight on LitCheck — EEVM Exec Member Rachel West’s new App!
My name is Rachel West, I am the CEO and Founder of LIV, and a Junior in the Goizueta Business School. The motive behind our products at LIV is clear, we believe in ‘living simply, so others can simply live.’ This is made possible through our distinct view of the world which is engrained in the belief that everyone should have access to real time information about a venue, without leaving the comfort of their home. Thus, I created LitCheck, a mobile application that allows people to see the atmosphere of a bar, conveyed in the form of litness, before they get there.
The idea for this app has evolved greatly from it’s initial form, but I was inspired to start my own business during my Freshmen year at Oxford College. While at Oxford, I noticed that there were consistent problems plaguing students that were the result of simply a lack of information being available. As a result, I wanted to make my life easier as well as my peers by using technology to create a stream-line solution for displaying information.
Interestingly, before I started this company, I had no background with technology. However, I understood early on that in order to be successful with this idea I would need to immerse myself in both business and technology. Since then, I have learned a lot, but I still have a long way to go. That is probably the most exciting aspect about what I am doing, because everyday I have the chance to learn really useful skills while doing something I love, and building a tool that is useful to others.
A Beta version of our app is now available for download on the iOS store here: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/litcheck/id1331324054?mt=8
