Entrepreneurship exists in all aspects of society, centered around forming ideas and taking the initiative to formulate something bigger. The goal of Emory Entrepreneurship & Venture Management is to bolster the spirit of entrepreneurship at Emory and encourage students to pursue their passions. Entrepreneurship is thriving at Emory, and the Excellerator offers a platform to aid students in leveraging their ideas into a viable business. MealMe is currently participating in the Excellerator with a team of three people- Matthew Bouchner, Will Said and Isaac Goldman.

MealMe is a social network that combines Millennials’ fascination for food and strong principles of immediate gratification. The social network allows people to directly interact with restaurants, food pictures and other media outlets connecting food and action. The company aims to respond to the evolving society by simplifying the internet of food and connecting “foodies”. Matthew Bouchner, CEO and Founder, is currently a Sophomore at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and has been working on the idea since High School. The inspiration behind MealMe is Bouchner’s desire to connect people through a common medium and provide a sense of simplicity in the evolving society:

“I have always been interested in the creative aspect of food and how it brings people together. I see this as an idea that is going to simplify the internet of food. It will bring people together and allow restaurants to tell their side of the story by posting their own content and will make it easier to post online” –Matthew Bouchner

The Excellerator has transformed Bouchner’s ideas into a viable company. Unlike most social media platforms, MealMe is built on a three-pronged revenue model including commission from deliveries, selling data to restaurants and forming mutually beneficial relationships with companies through advertising. MealMe is currently developing through the excellerator and has recently launched their website and Facebook page: http://www.mealmeapp.com
